Need help to choose the right cladding ratio?
28 Aug 2006
You probably know what thickness you need for the required strength and pressure capability of the radiator or charge air cooler you want to produce, but how much braze metal will be available after you have punched out the required number of tube slots?
If the cladding is at one of the extremes of the tolerance (5+/-1%, or 10+/-2%) how will that affect the fillet size and fatigue strength of the unit?
What if the Si % is at the top or bottom of the range for that cladding alloy?
In October 2006, TMCCL will present a paper called FILLERCALC at the Thermalliance Brazing Conference in Detroit to look at these issues in a scientific way, based on brand new production scale research using 3003 / 4045 header sheets in various thicknesses, clad ratios, and hole patterns.
